In years 2005-2006 site doggy.kiev.ua represented Kyiv City Society for the Protection of Animals in Internet. During this period the Society recovered after depression, and doggy.kiev.ua evolved to offer informational support to other organizations not related to KCSPA, too. The site was extended with a forum, which serves as communication platform and unites many animal protection activists and others.

Taking into account limited consideration of Society's needs by doggy.kiev.ua but its generally noble aim and important role for other related organizations, the administration headed by Asia Serpinskaya decided to develop a new Society's Internet site in early 2006.

Beginning from November 2006 the site http://animalprotect.org/ is the only official representative of Kyiv City Society for the Protection of Animals in Internet.

If you consider helping Kyiv City Society for the Protection of Animals with some monetary donation, please keep in mind:

1. Most reliable way is hand over the cash to Society's president and director of the Shelter Asia Serpinskaya.
2. Equally reliable is transfer the money according to current information in the section «Help us». Please review this information right before the transfer since it's subject to change!
3. Other persons authorized to collect money on behalf of the Society are listed in the section «Contacts».

Honest and conscientious people volunteers of KCSPA also collect money for most urgent Shelter's needs. If such a person is good friend of yours you probably can entrust him or her small amounts. Remember though that a volunteer is totally free-will role, which does not assume any formal obligations to Kyiv City Society for the Protection of Animals.

It's impossible to guarantee that your money will reach the Society and the Shelter indeed if you hand it over to other persons not mentioned above. In particular, wage labourers work sometimes in the Shelter that have nothing common with the administration of the Shelter. They gladly accept your donation but hardly pass it further...

This particular way, subscription to a topic, is selected because it provides maximal subscribers' convenience at little effort; users can manage their subscription themselves (to the difference to the news sent in private messages) and don't receive irrelevant advertisements (like in commercial services such as subscribe.ru)

On that condition that all other ways to set the animal up (via the friends, acquaintances, colleagues, ADs hung in busy locations and published in free newspapers, etc...) are alredy tried without success, and any further delay treatens animal's life or health.

Strays Shelter in Gostomel is always overcrowded. Therefore best variant is to find new owner directly and bypass the Shelter. Please bring the animal in only if there are absolutely no other ways. Please take some money with you if you can, the food for one animal costs us about 8 USD a month. More significant donations are always welcome too, see the section «Urgently Needed».

Consider that the Shelter population consists of mainly animals that lived their entire lives on the street. If you care of a former pet who lived all the time indoor, it's essential to do your very, really very best and find new owners directly. Otherwise accommodation to new conditions stresses the animal very much.

The Shelter has no own transport, therefore delivery of the animal is your task. Contact administrator of the Shelter on mobile phone in advance (see the section «Contacts») to ensure seamless handover.

Remember, by submitting the animal to the shelter you transfer your personal responsibility to someone else, who is in fact exactly as ordinary person as you are. You could establish a shelter too; it's difficult but it's doable. So please organize yourself the future of at least one this animal by finding a new careful owner for it.

Strays Shelter in Gostomel, Kyiv City Society for the Protection of Animals and the image of its president Asia Serpinskaya are brands that belong to their respective owners. In the case of questions regading use of Society's symbols please contact administration.

One can't treat animals' suffering separately from human problems. Attempt to set absolute priorities and solve most important tasks first is nonsensical and inhuman. If care for animals is amoral while a sigle humane on the Earth is suffering then the doctors should cure only most severe patients, teachers should teach just most backward children, and police should chase most dreadful offenders only. Not helping in an accident because there is someone in the world who suffers even more is absurdity and crime.

We notice animals' suffering around – and help them. Tasks we voluntarily and unselfish solve are mostly laborious and grievous. And we do it because we want to improve the environment a bit. The one who considers human problems more important than the problems of animals is likely to just searching for excuse and pretext to help neither animals nor people.

Site publications (excepting those in the Library) are published exclusively with the author's agreement. Once published articles become the common property and in general can't be withdrawn afterwards. The Forum applies technical limitations to restrict altering of the content by the post author shortly after the publication.

Library articles are mostly reprints with specification of the origin (document location at the time of reprinting). Withdrawal of article origin does not imply its withdrawal from the Web-site of KCSPA.

Kyiv City Society for the Protection of Animals has neither SMS-numbers for donations nor any relation to requests "send an SMS to number blah-blah, support the animals". Use only requisites found on our site for your contribution, all others might be a fraud.

KSCPA clearly understands that any shelter, even Gostomel, is no optimal place for animals. Every animal feels best under the wardship of a careful and affectionate owner, who dedicates it enough of his time and attention. The population size of Gostomel does not assume any comfort comparable with city apartment. Here you get some feeling of the differences.

However the conditions in Gostomel shelter far exceed those on the street because of:

1. Guaranteed food
   Unlike street strays who keep going due to occasional pittance or finding some food in refuse bins, Gostomel animals obtain daily nutrition. Dogs get porridge made on meat or bone bouillon, with some meat foods added. Cats obtain special food and milk porridge. The ration does not provoke obesity but guarantees relatively replete living.
2. Safety
   Habitants are protected against bastards with human appearance who torture defenceless creatures. At the same time they are guaranteed against intraspecific (the shelter staff corrects natural relations within packs when necessary to protect weaker specimens) and interspecific persecution (cats are reliably isolated from dogs).
3. Injury protection
   There is no danger of ending under car weels, on the rails, or in the issue of a contact with anthropogenic factors (high voltage, chemical or toxic substance, sewer manhole, etc.)
4. Veterinary care
   A loving owner can pay his/her only pet more attention (including its material manifestations) than a shelter staff member to hundreds of animals under his supervision. Anyway habitants obtain necessary veterinary help when injured or ill.
