In addition to the Vet Station, which already exists in the Shelter in Gostomel, we are building new postoperative boxes for 30 animals (extendable to up to 40 places). Animals that just underwent an operation (for example sterilized) will pass their rehabilitation there.
After adding three tens new boxes to existing 18 (3x6), the Shelter gets the biggest in Ukraine veterinary hospital. Vast majority of banian hospitals are currently missing hospital compartment, while immediately returning just operated animals to their owners. Running a hospital is troublesome indeed, and expensive after all.
However the rehabilitation compartment is absolutely required in order to perform mass sterilization of animals. In this regard, like in many others, the Shelter in Gostomel becomes the pioneer, getting prepared first to so much anticipated by every animal protection activist decision of municipal authorities to sterilize homeless animals instead of killing them.
